No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender in the world by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
