The Importance of Poker Position

[ English ]

Texas Holdem is just about gamblers and seating. All knowledgeable Texas Hold’em enthusiasts concur that position in no cap Texas Holdem is fundamentally essential. Playing your hole cards in late position might be certainly more beneficial than in starting poker position. This is because much more data is gathered before acting.

As an example, I played in a $1-$2 no limit cash game at a local casino. I limped in with 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer marker, so I could see a bit of fun. Flop came down A-A-4. An individual in starting position placed a $15 wager. Two players fold and it was now my turn to act. I should have folded, but his play felt a bit odd. I labeled this individual as a weak-tight bettor, and normally if he had the biggest hand he would just check, so I called.

The turn showed with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My challenger placed an additional wager of $20. I debated a tiny bit, but decided to re-raise another $30thirty dollars over and above his $20. He folds and I won the pot.

Sitting at last position gives you an idea where you stand by studying how players behave and wager. On the flip side, people at early spot might use their poker spot to check-raise the last positioned competitors and corner them afterwords at the end. In Holdem, both spots, late and starting must be played cautiously.
