NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
