NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
