No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
