Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
