NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
