NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
