Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
