NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
