No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
