No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
