NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
