No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
