No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
