NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
