Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
