NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
