Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
